SPECIES INTRODUCTION

All About Sertyr

In a world full of otherworldly denizens, there exists a race of faefolk called Sertyr. They stand on two hind legs similar to a deer’s, fragrant flowers growing on their body and have serpentine characteristics. Mischievous and neither malevolent or benevolent, these tricksters leave behind a trail of chaos in their wake. Either through fae magic or through the mysterious natural concoctions their body produces. However, if you win the trust of a Setyr...or amuse them enough to gain favour, Sertyrs will be willing to share their poison and/or antidote which they carry on their glass like horns.

SERTYR

TIDBITS

As a creature of fae, Sertyrs are wild and prefers to roam the land instead of creating settlements. Their diet consists of plants, flowers, honey and very rarely corpses of any creatures. Depending on what their diet is, it could either make their poison more potent or antidote more effective. When they do decide to settle down, Sertyr prefers to settle in forests covered in wild flowers, hang around large human gardens or any land that is fertile and overflowing with mana.

Though rare, Sertyrs who choose to coexists with humans perfectly assimilate to the culture and tradition surrounding them. This is more evident on Sertyrs born amongst humans. Their appearance and colouration will also change overtime to match their environment. Shedding their scales to change colouration and patterns, the same with their hair and fur colour.

SERTYR REPRODUCTION

  • Both males and females can reproduce offsprings asexually or other.

  • Asexual reproduction is similar to cloning, think of it like a way to attain true eternal life.

  • How? Each spring, a sertyr’s flower on their tail will bear a single fruit, it will stay until ripe. While described to be sweet, it has a bitter after taste and you’d die of poison in a few hours. Will fall off after a week when it’s too heavy and rot. The true function of the fruit during the first stage of it’s growth is that if the host body is intent on reproducing, they will mate with their chosen significant other. Both mate and Sertyr’s energy will converge in this fruit during the act. The fruit should be handled carefully once it’s as large as a melon, the skin is delicate and can easily puncture or cave in. During this stage, Sertyr’s are highly territorial and high strung-even to their mates. They will protect the fertilized fruit at any cost and will easily become depressed and suicidal if fruit is destroyed.

  • Once the fruit has fully ripen, it should be carefully plucked from the tail and the single seed inside taken out and planted on highly fertile soil. The leftover fruit can be eaten by the parent/s safely. Most recommended for Sertyr to eat as during the fruit growth, Sertyr tends to starve themselves during that state.

  • Once planted, a special bush like plant will grow, must be raised carefully and protected, easy targets for pests and quite sensitive to environmental change

  • Planting in a highly magical saturated area is the secret to having a strong offspring.

  • Once the bush matures, it will bear a single fruit, once fully ripe, it will be as big as a womb with a newborn. So translucent that the baby is visible, once ready, the fruit will “hatch”. The baby will kick itself out from it’s fruity cage. If there’s multiple fruits(rare), it means twins or triplets/etc. Parents must be present to catch these delicate babies.

  • Asexual reproduction is different, When the fruit appears during spring and if the Sertyr intends to asexually reproduce, they will instead find any way they can to consume as much magical energy as they can then self isolate to basically cultivate all that energy and transfer it to the fruit. They will come out of this self isolation once the fruit grown is ready to be planted.

  • Baby born asexually is a perfect clone of their parent. The parent sertyr will have 1 year to take care of the baby, once they pass on, all their memories and abilities are transferred into the baby, officially making them born anew. Around 1 year old, sertyr “clones” are much stronger compared to babies born sexually as they have the experience of an adult sertyr already intact.

  • Mates can be from any race, ranging from the living, the fae and spirits. Even then, the offsprings produced would have mainly inherited it’s sertyr parent’s genes.

  • Hybrids are rare(not similar to the 3 hybrid traits) but it does occur, Sertyr hybrids usually inherits one or a few of their other parent’s genes. (Sertyr and and other species hybrids are possible but ONLY with the owner’s permission AND if you already own a species from the creator which you can use as a parent of the child, you must also have an already existing sertyr to act as the other parent. If curious, there will be other species eventually added in the AU that would be able to mate with Sertyr’s(owned by me and the other mods/admins)).

  • Sertyr’s mate for life but due to their long life span and a method to pretty much live eternally, they either stay single after their first mate dies or choose another mate.

  • To clarify once again, the 3 hybrid traits-Deer, Horse and Snake is not a product of Sertyr and different race mating, it’s a natural but very rare phenomenon. A genetic mutation left over from the ancient times.
